Questions people ask first
SideThread FAQ
Short answers about what SideThread does, when it helps, and what to expect before you try it.

What is SideThread?
SideThread is an iOS live conversation assistant. It listens during a live session, notices answerable questions or information gaps, and shows a compact answer when that answer can help.
Is SideThread a chatbot?
No. SideThread is not a chat window for back-and-forth prompting. It is designed for live moments when you want context without stopping the conversation.
Can SideThread answer questions without interrupting a conversation?
That is the main idea. Start a live session, keep listening, and let SideThread surface a compact answer when a useful question or reference appears.
Is SideThread a meeting recorder or note taker?
No. The core job is not meeting documentation. SideThread is focused on curiosity: names, ideas, claims, and references that come up while people are talking.
What is the best first way to try it?
Play a podcast episode out loud, start SideThread, and let the episode keep moving. Podcasts make it easy to test whether the app can preserve useful references without interrupting your listening.
Can SideThread help me look up podcast references?
Yes. SideThread is a good fit for names, books, claims, people, places, and other references that come up while an episode is still moving.
Does SideThread always answer?
No. The product is meant to stay quiet unless the conversation contains a useful, answerable moment.
Can I save transcript text?
The app includes a transcript-retention choice during onboarding. Assists can still appear either way.
What should I be careful about?
Use SideThread only where live transcription or conversation assistance is appropriate and where you have the permissions required by applicable law.
Where can I get help?
Email gpickett00@gmail.com with what happened, your device model, and the app version if you have it handy.
